It's All About The Delivery

So, shock horror, it has recently emerged through the twisted, rotting grapevine that is the internet that UK Hip Hop hero Jehst is, during his spare time, a POSTMAN. There always seems to have been, and still is, some sort of bizarre stigma attached to anyone who is attempting to 'make it in the rap game'... that stigma being that if you actually have a REAL job you are somehow a complete failure, seeing as you are obviously not of such a rap calibre that you are able to pay for your food, clothing and shelter from the 'spoils' of music alone.

News flash fuck tards. It doesn't work that way. The fact of the matter is that since the Tories got into power having a job and consequently being able to hold onto it is a massive achievement in the current economic climate. Everyone's broke and there's no jobs to be had. The fact of the matter is that Jehst has been putting in work on the scene for 12 + years now and is a bonafide legend who still releases quality music and knows how to rock a show. The fact that he also works a full time job where he more than likely has to get up at some ungodly hour in order to fund his passion for making music/put food in his stomach should be recognised as a major boss move.

Of course, the fact that he's probably busting his hump in order to pour money into musical projects that his 'fans' will more than likely download for free rather than buy is a fucking joke. Being a UK rapper is a really fucking thankless task sometimes, but we do it for the love, and this is the best example of that you could probably see.

A wise man once said "If you think having a job is a joke, then you're probably broke." Don't forget that Braintax also cut and ran with thousands of pounds owing to all of his label signees, Jehst included. Snake. I heard someone the other day saying it was a publicity stunt; I then heard from a close friend and reliable source that that is not the case. He just HAS A JOB. It's not unusual. A lot of people have them. Hopefully though this little video might increase interest in anticipation of his upcoming LP, "Dragon Of An Ordinary Family." Go cop that.

Big up all the heads out there pushing out music and holding down a real job and dap to the people that appreciate the effort and spend their hard earned cash to make it worthwhile for the rest of us. To all you constant downloaders and take-the-piss-out-of-the-working-musician types, grow the fuck up. Really.

Me, Stig, Jehst and.....?

Not too sure about the voyeuristic approach though...thats pretty weird. To the cameraman : I'm sure that next time if you popped out with a cup of tea, dapped the man up, told him you're a fan and let him get on with his grind he'd be more than grateful. Either that or he'll cuss you out for filming him like a peeping Tom, but thats on you homie.

Big up Jehst though, a thoroughly good dude and a personal favourite UK MC of mine. I cyphered with him, Hines and Tommy Evans a bunch of times back when I was a teenager and our paths often cross here and there, but later for that. Wait for my LP and subsequent blog posts for various stories and anecdotes on my life as a UK Hip Hop bit part player.

And don't forget to keep an eye out for "Dragon Of An Ordinary Family." Matter of fact, go get his whole back catalogue, I guarantee it'll be money well spent. And you never know. The man might literally deliver a CD straight to your doorstep. Now that's GRINDING.
