Pour Out Some Liquor 2 Times..... AGAIN....

.....LATE. AGAIN.

This whole putting out an album thing doesnt half fuck with your time. Contrary to popular belief, this blog is NOT going to die a slow and drawn out death, but as mentioned on many occasions all of the red tape surrounding putting out the LP has slowed my roll on this beauty considerably.

Before I get on to new business, however, theres a couple of important entries for me to make that I missed out on last month due to my stupid schedule....

RIP Bugz (D12) - 19?? - 21st May 19??

Prior to a show in Detroit, Bugz attended a picnic at which an incident took place that led to his fatal assault. An argument with a man over a water-pistol fight escalated, the man went to his SUV to retrieve a firearm which he then fired in Bugz's direction. He was shot four times as well as being hit by the assailant's vehicle as he fled the scene. The incident, on May 21, 1999, was captured on video and shown later that day on local news.

Members of the group were shaken by the tragic incident, darkening the mood within the collective. One of his final acts had been to request that Swift join the group. Unfortunately, a few weeks after Swift joined, Bugz was killed. Many of the remaining members started to believe the group was finished. Following the death of Bugz, Eminem volunteered as replacement in order to fulfill the group's forthcoming obligations. This led to Eminem eventually rejoining the group.

In memory of Bugz, the group recorded the track "Good Die Young" on their second album D12 World. The album also included a song titled "Bugz '97", which was a 1997 recording of Bugz, originally from the song "Desperados". All five members of D12 bear a tattoo of his name somewhere on their bodies in remembrance of him. The group recorded their first LP Devil's Night in his memory. Eminem's third album The Marshall Mathers LP was also dedicated to Bugz.

Deezy's Saturday Jam(s) #15/Last Night/Pour Out Some Liquor

In honour of last nights massive throw down ^^^^^. Proper wasnt in the mood to go out, but Lil' Tika and I medicated with plenty of piff and cheap bourbon and went and got it in. 2 of the worlds finest producers dropping non stop bangers for 2 hours, with Mr Thing absolutely smacking it beforehand.

And in other news, tip a whole bottle of crystal on the pavement. I found out last night at the gig. I was chilling with Ed Strong and Skandal when the news broke and I poured an entire bottle of stella away. Money well spent.

R.I.P. Gil Scott-Heron (April 1, 1949 – May 27, 2011)

Pour Out Some Liquor, A Day Late

Marlon Brando (Sporty Thievz) R.I.P. 1979 – 2001

"On May 11, 2001, group member Marlon Brando was killed after being struck by a car in North Bronx at the age of 22. It is reported that the driver of the car was intoxicated and swerving onto the sidewalk. Marlon Brando is believed to have saved a bystanding girl's life by pushing her out of the way."

What a fucking hero.

RIP Guru (July 17, 1961 – April 19, 2010)

Can't believe it's been a year already. RIP.

Pour Out Some Liquor

Proof (October 2, 1973 – April 11, 2006)

Little needs to be said about Eminem's mentor and best buddy. I will say, however, that somewhere in The Pirahna Tank I have some tapes of Em and Proof actually freestyling (i.e. off the top rhyming) on Westwood and Proof absolutely smashes it. I was never a big fan of D12's music, but as a solo artist Proof was pretty slept on.

RIP

Pour Out Some Liquor TIMES 2 (My Bad)

I am so selfish, forgetting to post on the precise days that these two rappers tragically passed away. Still, the fact remains, I am still alive and have plenty of shit to get up to. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

RIP Eazy E (September 7, 1963 – March 26, 1995)

One of my personal favourites. "The bitch said three words, man... Stop, no and don't. I said BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTCCHHH...."

RIP Freaky Tah (May 14, 1971 – March 28, 1999)

This remix is a lot better than the original, in my humble opinion...

RIP

Pour Out Some Liquor - Think B.I.G.

".... Cause The Greatest Rapper Of All Time Died On March 9th"

I remember getting dressed for school and seeing that Biggy got killed on The Big Breakfast news (C4) with Chris Evans & Gaby Roslyn. Can't believe that was 14 years ago. Time sure does fly.

Biggy. May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997. R.I.P.

Pour Out Some Liquor

Big L (May 30, 1974 - February 15, 1999)

Nothing really to say about this. Once again, we'll let the man's music do the talking. I've only put a few joints up, nothing off of 'Lifestylez' though, so don't get on your high horse (unless its a Polo horse). Go do the research if you don't know. RIP.

Pour Out Some Liquor. Then Pour out a little bit more.

James Dewitt Yancey (February 7, 1974 – February 10, 2006),[1] better known by the stage names J Dilla and Jay Dee, was an American record producer who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan.

I've said enough over the last few days, so just check for these joints. Let the mans music do the talking (some of MY favourites). RIP.

And thats just a tiny, tiny selection of the man's catalogue.

For a write up of the J Dilla Tribute Gig at The Scala in Kings Cross on sunday gone, including video of his MOTHER making a live speech, peep my post right HERE. There are all the details of how you can donate to the Dilla foundation right there, should you feel so inclined.

Right up until his last days the dude was repping. Dilla didn't change my life specifically, but the Doctor's Orders gig sure did, so go read that write up.

Until next year, RIP the god J Dilla. 1.

Fuck Overkill - Dilla Tribute Write Up Pt. 2

Last night was simply beautiful. The whole joint was packed out wall to wall and everyone
was jamming out. It was real special. I might bang on about this a little bit longer, at least until the 10th anyways. I managed to upload a couple of the vids I took on my phone, apologies for the poor quality/shaky work/strange audio click, but its worth a look. It by no means captures the vibe that was was reverberating through the whole joint last night but I'm glad that I took a couple short vids for the sake of posterity at least.

Just as a mention (and because its something I didn't have a chance to actually film), but when Harry Love dropped 'House Of Flying Daggers' off of Raekwon's 'Only Built For Cuban Linx Part 2' LP the WHOLE PLACE WENT BANANAS. SUPER, SUPER BANANAS. Never seen anything like it. And I'm not ashamed to say I was never particularly keen on that joint lol.

One of the many other truly amazing things that happened last night occurred when, quite early on, a skinny young white indie kid who looked completely out of place turned to his female companion and said, and I quote (plus it was loud enough for many people in ear shot to hear) "So, is this J Dilla guy dead then or what?". I couldn't believe my ears, and shit just got hilarious when a bunch of suuuuuper rude girls all turned around with the most utterly disgusted looks on their faces before proceeding to absolutely go in on him. Hilarious. Massive self par. Dude won't be making that mistake again any time soon haha.

Pause Live (Off my phone)

,

Ma Dukes Makes Her Speech (Phone again. Sorry)

And, obviously, as a standard I'm popping this in below should any of you out there feel inclined. I spent a lot of money last night so my contributions are all covered. 1

Birthday Boys

Late on this one. It was Bob Marley's born day yesterday, but better late than never, so heres a likkle old jam for you to skank out to.

Also, it was/is Dilla's born day today, tragically, in the resepct that he passed a mere 3 days later. I'm going to drop a little write up about the joint at Scala yesterday for you pretty soon but until then here's one of my favourite Dilla beats being brutalised by Dilla's own favourite rapper, Guilty Simpson. Massive.

Just as an aside, here's a version of the same joint with Scizzahz, Vecks and I going in on it. My verse is.........special. I think thats the best way to describe it. Vecks kills it though. "Eating dodgy pizzas in Bognor Regis, word on the street is, your grandmother's got a penis". Wonder why they call us GENIUS Squad?

RIP Big Pun (November 10, 1971 – February 7, 2000).

Dilla Tribute Jam. Amazing.

I'm not a 'bandwagon jumper'. Don't even get me started on that shit. I been down since day dot. Anyway, I've never been to a Dilla tribute gig before but I did go to this joint at The Scala tonight, mainly due to the fact it was my Wiz's girl's bornday (if I'm being honest). However, the simple fact is this; it might just have been the best Hip Hop jam I've ever been to. In my life. No shit. I'm too lean to keep chatting on it but needless to say I'll hit you up with the scoop tomorrow when I'm sober. Dilla didn't change my life, honestly, but this tribute gig for him tonight did, for real. The joints all banged and everybody was bugging out, dancing, going nuts. Real ill. His MUM was there. Ma Dukes. She was there! Got on the mic and everything. It was mad. Real real crazy shit fam wooooowwwww

I got video. I'll hit you up soon. RIP Dilla though, still.

Pour Out Some Liquor

RIP Apache 22/01/2010

Pretty under the radar for most heads (myself included), Apache started out as a weed (or more likely, Maya Angelou book) carrier for Queen Latifah as part of the Flavo(U)r Unit. So the story goes, he and Treach were roadies for the Queen while Tupac was doing the same for Digital Underground and they toured together, resulting in appearances for Apache not only on 'Pacs first LP but also on Fat Joe's premier release. He was nice with his, check the joint 'Gangsta Bitch' just below.
