'Stupid Bitch' Demo Track - Free Download (If you REALLLY want it)

Seeing as I was bored I wrote a (in terms of content) completely pointless verse to Dre's 'Light Speed' instrumental. I dont have a recording set up, so once Ive written anything its usually the case that Ive got to wait to lay anything down, then wait for it to be mixed, mastered and the rest. However, seeing as I had loads of more important things to do but prefer procrastinating, I decided to rap the verse at my mac and record it on Garageband. To achieve this I put a duvet cover over myself and the computer, which must have looked ridiculous. I then added the skit bits and 'mixed' it (if you can really call what I did 'mixing') before uploading it to soundcloud. The entire process took about an hour and is a good way to demo material, so I might do some more in the future.

The vocal quality is appalling as i was using the internal mic on my laptop. Shit sounds rugged (or rugged sounds shit, depending on your preference). Anyway, in the words of Eli Porter, I DEEEEED IT.

Dope, New, FREE Music

Straight back in this bitch like a horny dog, son.

Some of my fam dem have been mad busy in the lab churning out some absolute heat for your listening pleasure and, seeing as its essentially free, there is absolutely no reson why you shouldn't go and download that shit.

First off, we got my boy Wizard with his new Instrumental joint 'Chill Pill 3', featuring a number of other well respected beatsmiths doing their thing. Wiz is an absolute boss on the boards and has done a few joints for me in the past and also for upcoming projects, which needless to say bang harder than a whore house door in a force 10.

You CAN download it for free, but you also have the option to choose a price to show your appreciation for underground, independent artistis. I chose the latter, seeing as we're in the same boat. How much did I pay? £3.17. Don't ask why, but at least I paid. Ask Wiz if you don't believe me.

DOWNLOAD CHILL PILL 3

Secondly, we have the long awaited EP from another producer that I rock with, the young and up and coming Mad Hatter who also rhymes on this joint alongside my 2nd personal favourite gorilla/human hybrid (after Sean P), Rum Com's own Prince Kong. I downloaded this last night, for free, and bumped it all the way through. I suggest you do the same, otherwise you're a bum ass ninja, and nobody likes them. Go cop that or one yourself with a bayonet.

The dope artwork comes courtesy of RumCom MC/in house illustrator Bukioe, who has also handled business on my very-soon-to-be-released Summer EP. For more info on his works, contact etc click HERE

And, of course, no post would be complete without me mentioning that you can now download the 'Rap Ain't Real' LP (by myself) for FREE (or donation!), featuring production from Wizard, Mad Hatter, Scizzahz and more.

DOWNLOAD THE MAD GORILLAS TEA PARTY

DOWNLOAD RAP AINT REAL

If they're free, what in the fuck are you waiting for? Click download, go and make a cup of tea, it'll be downloaded by then. Listen to them. If you don't like them, delete them. If you do like them, spread the word. They're FREE. Get it? Good.

Cold Lazarus LP (Dropping 07/06) - First Review. CHECK IT OUT!!!

Courtesy of one Mr Tom Clements and the kind people at Rhythm Circus. I'd be lying if i said I wasn't pretty chuffed with this.

After six years spent paying dues on his local hip-hop circuit as both an MC and DJ with the Mad Love and Blaze One crews, Falmouth-raised Enlish (AKA Big Dave) relocated to Brighton and spent five years establishing himself as a mainstay on the local hip-hop scene with a string of mixtape releases and an EP to his name, in addition to becoming a permanent fixture at Rising Styles’ Brighton Hip-Hop Festival.

All the while he garnered numerous impressive features including a guest spot on BBC 1Xtra with F.U. Music affiliate Stig of the Dump, and has shared bills with such hip-hop luminaries as Klashnekoff, Jehst, Rodney P, Raekwon, and Phi Life Cypher but to name a few. Released under the auspices of independent label F.U. Music, Cold Lazarus is Enlish’s long-awaited flagship solo album project and the fruit of four years unrequited passion for hip-hop, assiduous musical endeavour, but also a wealth of setbacks; however, despite the trials and tribulations of a struggling independent artist, the end product is nothing short of a seamless hip-hop masterpiece.

An undisputed OG, and perhaps one of the most under-appreciated of UK hip-hop legends, Enlish is the MC’s MC: with his exquisite flows, deft freestyle ability and flamboyant image propelling him to the status of something of a cult hero of the UK scene, Enlish has long exalted traditional mid-90′s era hip-hop out of America’s regional confines, taken it to the British South Coast and injected it with his own uniquely colourful persona and the worldly-wise perspectives a self-confessed “brown-skinned, Cornish-Asian rapper”.

A de facto Sean Price of the underground UK hip-hop scene, Enlish displays that similarly acrobatic internal rhyme aggressiveness, alliteration and the densely-packed polysyllabic rhymes of his quasi-role model, and like Sean, he’s clearly an intelligent guy; however, a real masterstroke of his is how he forgoes any marble-mouthed, esoteric references (which I’m sure he is quite capable of producing) and instead adheres to a formula of spitting straight-up flows and packing them out with hard-hitting punchlines. Moreover, Enlish wisely repudiates the common tropes of self-proclaimed socially conscious rappers who display a complete inability to spin a compelling narrative, by crafting eloquent verses about deeply-ingrained personal issues. Indeed, there’s a complex interplay of themes and admissions in the album: he presents himself as a larger-than-life and extremely outgoing character on the one side, but on the other he explores the dichotomy of the same man riddled with insecurity, everyman melancholy and frequent bouts of self-destructive depression.

For all his introspection however, Enlish never sacrifices humour or swagger, and the beats of Cold Lazarus are seriously banging. Produced, mixed, mastered and arranged entirely by Ido, it’s a sonically rich affair with a myriad of musical ornamentation and a cohesive collection of sounds wherein each individual element serves its purpose to the fullest. Chiseled with a heady blend of bass-heavy tracks structured by cymbals, reverb-heavy squelching synths with meaty guitar stabs as well as simpler looped instrumentals with wistful flute melodies, Cold Lazarus has some of the most accomplished and varied production I’ve heard from any UK hip-hop release this year.In addition to the album’s high-end production values and its boldly flamboyant aesthetic, Enlish lays bare his self-depricating persona and is entirely honest about the adversity he has had to face in life — especially concering the tragic death of his mother —and his consequent succumbing to a desultory hedonistic lifestyle of booze and women.

Heavily suffused with nihilistic undertones, whilst also conveying some affable and often deadpan comedic sensibilites, Cold Lazarus is the soundtrack to the real-life tale of a tortured soul, emphasized by the inclusion of three very introspective and heartfelt numbers including I Feel Good, Only Human and Karaoke. In my opinion, it’s in these tracks that some of his best lyricism comes out: “Heavy flowing with as much serotonin left as Leonard Cohen’”. Additionally, he also provides some stark and earnest messages to those similarly vulnerable to the same temptations: “Choose to reject what your fate brings, and you’ll be frozen in a moment from which you’re never escaping.”

Perhaps to provide some much-needed levity, the track Dickhead features a humorous light-hearted exchange between Enlish and close friend Hineswho nags and reprimands him for wasting his days and for not getting out there and doing shows. Recurring themes in this as well as some other tracks on the album include flagrant substance-abuse, plain idleness and degenerate boozing, and are dealt with with an intriguing mixture of blithe humour and genuine earnestness. The album’s stand out track — which is also the album’s featured single— is the thickly synth and bass laden Arrogance is Bliss which is a serious head-banger; it’s also thoroughly apolitical and loaded with tongue-in-cheek gangsterisms and near-the-knucle humour.

Complete with a Sean Price fresh out the Carhartt-era and a potty-mouthed Stig of the Dump, the track lends most itself to bursts of laugh-out-loud punchlines: It ain’t line dancing when I say I throw the hoe down. Another stand-out is the ‘Imagineers Cypher’ which is a rowdy collaborative effort featuring fellow F.U. Music cohort Dr Syntax (himself a UK hip-hop veteran), Hines and Clev Cleverley with a classic rock emphasis and some seriously dope scratches from DJ Manipulate.

Overall, there’s really very little I can fault in Cold Lazarus, and I certainly haven’t got a bad word to say about Enlish; indeed, for all his hip-hop posturing and well-deserved hubris, he still comes off as a genuinely nice guy, and his affable charm and charisma make him a true breath of fresh air in a country pervaded by the scourge pretentious grime MCs-turned-popstars. No doubt there will be incessant buzz and clamouring when his album is released on 7th June because this is literally, HUGE!

It's Time For The.....

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION. Again. Sorry, I know. But this is the precise reason why I havent been hitting you off with my usual brand of witty and informative Hip Hop inspired banter lately; I've been busting my fucking ass trying to get this LP sorted and believe me, every single thing that could have possibly gone wrong during the entire process from recording to manufacturing has and seemingly continues to do so. I've been fucking crazy busy recently and not just sorting this shit out either. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Anyway, excuse me. That's not your fault. This LP, 'Cold Lazarus', has been 4 years and a lot of blood, sweat, tears, money, beers, honeys, drugs, pubs and nervous breakdowns in the making. But it's nearly there, thank fuck. It drops on 07/06/2011 on CD, digital download, LIMITED EDITION USB aaaaaaaand

Prince William & Princess Kate Interview/Review 'Arrogance Is Bliss' Ft. Sean Price #RoyalWedding

I recently caught up with the happy couple to chop it up, twist some trees and premier my new AA single featuring Sean Price and Stig Of The Dump. What follows is an entirely truthful account of our 'conversation'.

"Wow, this jazz fag is the bomb diggy." Prince William is coughing and spluttering. As suspected, the calibre of piff supplied to this balding, regal, horse-faced batty is a little too much for his precious, jewel encrusted lungs. "Kate, darling, come and take a puff on this.... What do you call this, David?"

"Cannabis, Will."

"Cannabis, that's the ticket. Jolly good. Oh Catherine dear, do come over here and take a 'hit' on this 'cannabis' and meet my friend David. He's a rapper
don't you know, and a jolly good one at that."

Getting high with the royals is no joke, especially seeing as Prince William doesn't seem to realise that his darling Kate is blatantly getting some on the side from his snotnosed ginger Nazi of a little brother right underneath his giant schnoz and is none the wiser. I choose to keep my mouth shut regarding this. I'm at Buckingham Palace and the soon to be princess is parading around in next to nothing apparently for the entertainment of myself and Manfred, their butler. Neither of us are interested in her flat, curveless frame but humour her nonetheless as she parades around the room, tripping over and stumbling like a toddler in her mothers heels, looking more like Barbara Windsor with a booze problem in "Carry On Trying" than soon-to-be royalty. I've nearly run out of patience with her and start to wonder why I've even bothered coming here in the first place.

"Stop hogging the blunt Billy, shit" I say, snatching the trees off the little prick. "Put the music on and shut the fuck up." As soon as 'Arrogance Is Bliss' Ft. Sean Price, Stig Of The Dump and DJ Manipulate (produced by Ido) comes banging out of the speakers, the mood in the room changes noticeably. Prince Will, having taken just a little too much in on that last go round, starts having violent seizures and foaming at the mouth, convulsing, involuntarily smashing his own head against the marble fire place. Kate Middleton reacts to the music a little better, attempting to 'drop down and get her eagle on' on top of a priceless 15th century mahogany coffee table, scratching the shit out of the finish with her diamond studded Jimmy Choos. By the time Sean Price's verse kicks in, Manfred has had enough. "You fucking BITCH!! I've had it up to here with you!!!" He's screaming, tears welling up in his eyes. He has reached his breaking point.

Manfred rushes Miss Middleton, spear tackling the malnourished waif like Kimbo Slice sprinting at Tom Hanks' character in Philadelphia. There is euthanasia on his mind. He has a murderous, demonic glare in his eyes, magnified by the monacle that is ready to crack and shatter due to the pressure of his facial muscles bearing down on it's pewter frame. He throws his full body weight at her, shoulder connecting perfectly with sternum in some sort of beautiful yet brutally violent union, producing a satisfying CRACK, folding her in two with the ease of the fingers of a well trained master of origami working with damp crepe paper; she wheezes as the oxygen is forced from her body, her frame flying through the air, crashing into the wall, spraying blood all over a painting of Prince Philip (cock) before her limp, lifeless body thumps to the floor like a bag of dry dog turds. I think she might be dead, but neither Manfred nor I bother to check. She's dead to us, and that's what matters.

By this time Prince William has seemingly got himself under control. Before he has the chance to see the smashed sack of skin and bones that is supposedly his future Princess lying motionless on the floor, I quickly slam on 'Brain Basher', one of the free tracks that comes with the download of Arrogance Is Bliss, part of a 14 track package for £3 available from http://enlish.bandcamp.com. With this, both he and Manfred are invigorated; it seems that the apparent madness haunting Jack Nicholson and the Overlook Hotel in The Shining has now pervaded the walls of this very palace. While I sit back and leisurely smoke, all the while listening to the incredible music bumping out of the speakers, Bill and Manny take turns in violently headbutting each other and having a 'who can kick each other in the nuts the hardest' contest. It transpires that Prince Billy is no pushover, smashing poor Manfred in the bollocks so hard that he starts vomiting blood.

While revelling in his victory over the lowly manservant by pouring an entire bottle of Cristal over his head, William then unfortunately notices the crumpled sack of plasma and marrow that used to be his fiancee. As 'There You Go', an MOP sampling banger of a track (produced by Grill$smack) kicks in, William quickly and noticably loses his mind, shrieking like a banshee and running around the reception room in erratic circles. At this precise moment, however, he also realises the true extent of the damage to his royal testicles, sustained during the vicious kicking contest between him and the now possibly deceased Manfred. This massive physical trauma, combined with the horrible vision of his bride to be's crushed and lifeless body next to the gilded skirting boards proves a little too much for the inbred pea brain, and he faints, his head smashing once again against the marble fireplace, cracking the ornamental fixture clean in two like a master of karate chopping a wooden board.

So, there I am, still quite happily smoking a joint, surrounded by the blood and the fallout of the carnage, all created by the power of the 'Messed Up/Arrogance Is Bliss' deluxe AA side release (with free 11 track LP) available for purchase NOW from http://enlish.bandcamp.com for £3. I've had enough by now, so I get up to leave. As I'm walking past Manfred's now unrecognisable body and the gaping chasm now clearly visible on Prince Williams head, brains leaking all over the priceless persian rug, the apparently alive Miss Middleton reaches out and grabs my ankle, and with her last gasp of regal breath before she passes out, asks me - "Where can I cop the music, David?"

She is out like a light before I have a chance to answer, so I leave a business card on Manfred's now ruined coffee table and put a high quality, glossy, weatherproof sticker on Bill's head to try and help keep his brains inside.

On the way out of the palace I murder 2 beefeaters and knock a horse clean out with one punch. I then return to Brixton, giggling, buying some curried goat and ackee and saltfish from the takeaway before copping 12 hot wings from KFC with extra BBQ sauce to top it off and head home, satisfied.

I never heard from the royals again. Apparently they were supposed to be getting married or something. Bothered.

Enlish's Sunshine Compilation Tape Vol.2 - FREE D/L

Volume 2 of the Sunshine compilation, this one might appeal to you smokers out there. Some good shit to light up to. Non smokers can appreciate it too though. As before, none of these songs have been used with anyones permission, so if you like what you hear, go and buy it etc etc etc. Just like my single (the one featuring Sean Price? £3 for 14 tracks? Have I mentioned that? http://enlish.bandcamp.com?).

Apologies for the excessive Smoke DZA and Mac Miller if you're not a fan, I am personally (for the most part) and like smoking to these joints... there were more but then things would have got a little lopsided.

Also, the intended running order is below, although I have a suspicion that it'll be jumbled up when you unzip the file. If you get a minute, stick 'em in the order below. It plays a whole lot better.

ENLISH : Off The Top FREESTYLE recorded by Philly B (LDZ) - FREE D/L

Oh, and FUCK 2DOPEBOYZ. Enjoy.
